Organizational Structure
Zumar Foundation is fully compliant with local laws and regulations and holds official licensing from the NGO Bureau, Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uganda. This commitment to responsible and transparent governance is in line with Uganda’s Vision 2040 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The foundation has a well-defined organizational framework that ensures clear roles and responsibilities.
At the top of the hierarchy is the Board of Trustees (BOT), providing pivotal leadership. The Executive Committee, guided by the Executive Director, plays a crucial role in operational oversight and decision-making.
Technical staff and volunteers are dispersed across Uganda, contributing to the foundation’s mission and programs. A Senior Management Team provides strategic guidance, and sector-specific program staff and technical specialists enhance the impact and efficacy of the foundation’s programs. Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) specialists ensure program effectiveness and accountability, while core staff members in finance, human resources, and supply chain departments ensure operational smoothness. Area or regional managers oversee project operations, working closely with field staff and community workers to implement programs and engage with beneficiaries.
Zumar Foundation is dedicated to incorporating humanitarian principles, policies, and procedures, as well as a code of conduct. Regular training on Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS) principles is provided to the staff, ensuring high standards of integrity and impartiality in their work. A Code of Conduct and Ethics is an integral part of employees’ contracts, and training sessions educate employees on both the CHS and the foundation’s codes of conduct. The foundation maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards unacceptable practices such as fraud, bribery, corruption, sexual exploitation and abuse, and modern slavery. These policies adhere to international standards governing charitable organizations, creating a work environment that prioritizes integrity, accountability, and the well-being of all individuals served. Zumar Foundation’s dedicated efforts, transparent governance, and commitment to sustainable development make it a key contributor to Uganda’s socioeconomic progress. By addressing urgent needs in vulnerable communities, the foundation aligns with global and national development objectives, making a significant impact in East Africa and beyond.
